Renewal of the Endowed Professorship for the Department of Plastics Technologies at Ilmenau University of Technology
2009 – 2017
Since 2009 Prof. Dr. Michael Koch is the endowed professor of the Department of Plastics Technologies in the Faculty of Engineering at Ilmenau University of Technology.
The benefits of this cooperation were obvious. Basic and applied research had been connected. The TU Ilmenau could extend their range of subjects with a pioneering and innovative subject, because the plastic industry has a high R & D potential regarding technology and products. Students found diverse study opportunities with direct access to industry-related research in the form of internships and dissertations. Furthermore, companies got the chance to secure their future demand for specialists in plastics technology and in business management.
The Endowed Chair of Plastics Technologies at Ilmenau University of Technology was originally enabled by the support of STIFT (Foundation for Research and Technology) as well as by industrial companies and the PolymerMat.
A continuation of the Foundation took place in 2014 with three industrial companies, PolymerMat e.V. and the FKTI e.V. (as seen below).
