Foundation professorship

Since 2009 Prof. Dr. Michael Koch is the endowed professor of "plastics technology" in the Faculty of Engineering at Ilmenau University of Technology.
The benefits of this cooperation is obvious. Basic research and applied research will be connected. The TU Ilmenau can extend their range of subjects with a pioneering and innovative subject, because the plastic industry has a high R & D potential regarding technology and products. Students will find diverse study opportunities with direct access to industry-related research in the form of internships and dissertations. This is accompanied by an early opportunity to come into contact with potential employers. Furthermore, companies get the chance to secure their future demand for specialists in plastics technology and in business management.

The Endowed Chair of Polymer Engineering at Ilmenau University of Technology was originally enabled by the support of STIFT (Foundation for Research and Technology) as well as by industrial companies and the PolymerMat.

A continuation of the Foundation took place in 2014 with three industrial companies, PolymerMat e.V. and the FKTI e.V. (as seen below).
